Scam alert: Warning over hoax courts email sent to Queenslanders
Queensland residents are being warned about a hoax email claiming to be from the Brisbane Magistrates Court.
The email, with the subject line ‘Affidavit and Application 3288/19’, says a civil application has been set down for June 28 and asks people to click on an attachment for details.
The state government is urging people who receive it to delete it from their mail box.
“Anyone who receives this email should delete it immediately and not click on any attachment,” a spokesperson for the Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG) said.

“The email has not been sent by Queensland Courts and the attachment appears to contain malicious content.
“The email has been sent by a scammer impersonating a Department of Justice and Attorney-General email account to distribute malicious material to the public."
People who have a matter before a court, or expect to attend one in the near future should contact the relevant courthouse registry to confirm their details.
