SAS officers are being taught leadership, morals and ethics ahead of a report into decisions made in Afghanistan into whether any Australian troops have committed war crimes.

SAS Regiment has been building morale and focusing on leadership to strengthen culture, ahead of the soon-to-be-released report into alleged battlefield atrocities by the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force, The Australian reports on Monday.

The SAS began rolling out the reforms in 2015 under then-commanding officer, Major General Jeff Sengelman, with officers now required to complete additional training to troops in "ethics, morality and courage in leadership".
