Former NRL star Sam Burgess charged after BMW pulled over

Former NRL star Sam Burgess has been pulled over, drug tested and charged with driving offences.

The 32-year-old was driving a BMW X5 along the Hume Highway, Braemar in the NSW Southern Highlands about 1.30pm today when he was stopped.

Burgess was subjected to a random drug test. He was then taken to Southern Highlands Police Station where he underwent a secondary oral fluid test.

The sample has been sent for further analysis.

The former Rabbitohs star was issued a court attendance notice for driving on an international licence and using an unregistered car.

Under NSW law if you are a resident for more than three months you are required to get a local licence.

Burgess will appear at Moss Vale Local Court on May 4, 2021.
