Sailor arrested over alleged NT assault

A navy sailor is facing a manslaughter charge in Darwin.

The Cairns-based sailor was arrested on Tuesday in relation to an alleged assault in Darwin on August 9.

Defence is helping the Northern Territory police with their inquiry and providing support to the sailor.

It will not make any further comments while the civilian investigation is ongoing, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
