Women arrested on drug charges in NT
A woman has allegedly tried to smuggle ice hidden in chocolate bar wrappers into Darwin as part of a drug smuggling syndicate.
The 46-year-old was found with 500g of ice in her luggage after she got off a plane from Sydney at the weekend, police say.
A 57-year-old woman was also allegedly caught carrying $55,000 before she boarded a flight from Darwin to Sydney on Monday.
Police then found 165g of ice in her Darwin home and one kilogram of an amphetamine-type stimulant, thought to be methamphetamine, at a home in Sydney.
Both women are accused of being part of a syndicate smuggling methamphetamine into the Northern Territory.
The 57-year-old will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with commercial drug possession and supply as well as conspiring to commit a crime.
The 46-year-old will appear on November 18 charged with commercial drug possession and supply.
