A 38-year-old South Australian woman nearly wiped out some road workers in Tonsley, south of Adelaide's CBD, and has been charged with high-range drink driving.

It is alleged the woman, driving a Lexus station wagon, returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.244 after colliding with a road worker's vehicle.

Police were tipped off by a member of the public after the Black Forest resident was spotted swerving over the road in nearby Melrose Park.
