Uber to resume from Adelaide Airport

Uber will resume pick-ups from Adelaide Airport on Monday after being forced to halt its services last week because of a taxi blockade.

A spokeswoman for the ride-sharing company says after discussions with airport authorities, pick-ups are scheduled to resume from the airport's rid-share wait zone on Monday afternoon.

Uber was forced to suspend its services last Thursday, citing safety concerns after taxi drivers staged a blockade of the ride sharing pick-up area in protest over the airport's decision to allow UberX to operate within the precinct.

The taxi blockade lasted until Friday afternoon with drivers also refusing to pick up passengers, forcing travellers leaving the airport onto buses which caused lengthy delays.

At one stage, airport authorities threatened to call in the Federal Police to end the blockade if it was not resolved.

Uber drivers are likely to face more checks when pick-ups resume with transport compliance officers to be stationed at the airport.
