Four people have died within 24 hours in separate crashes on South Australian roads.

A driver died in the Adelaide Hills town of Clarendon after their car collided with another vehicle on Monday morning, police say.

The other driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Earlier, a man and a woman died after a two-car crash on the Eyre Peninsula.

The driver and his female passenger died at the scene on the Lincoln Highway near Whyalla.

Two other passengers and the driver of the other car were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

In another separate incident, a man was killed and another injured after a single-vehicle crash on the Sturt Highway on Sunday morning.

One man died at the scene, while the other was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The national road toll for the Christmas period stood at 12 on Monday afternoon.
