Two dead, 10 hurt in separate SA crashes

Two people including a child are dead and 10 people have been left injured as a result of two horror single-vehicle crashes in outback South Australia.

A girl died when a car rolled on a remote track between Fregon and Umawa on Friday evening, police said.

The scene was in desert country, about 450km northwest of Coober Pedy.

A 21-year-old woman, a young male and another girl were treated at Alice Springs Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A number of other passengers were uninjured.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Earlier on Friday, a Melbourne man was killed when a utility with eight people aboard rolled on the Stuart Highway, 1km north of the Cadney Park roadhouse.

The victim, a 45-year-old from Roxburgh Park, died at the scene.

Four passengers were flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.

Three other people had minor injuries and were treated at the Coober Pedy Hospital.

The deaths take South Australia's road toll to 48, eight fewer than at the same time last year.
