Two people will face court on Monday after a police chase in South Australia's east.

Police briefly pursued the Queensland-registered car after observing it travelling at high speed along the Dukes Highway near Bordertown on Sunday morning.

They terminated the pursuit but attempted to follow the vehicle discretely before it pulled out of sight.

The car, later revealed to have been stolen in Queensland last Sunday, was found abandoned an hour later at White Hill.

Police arrested a man, 29, and a woman, 18, at a Monarto South property.

The pair, of no fixed address, were remanded to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Monday charged with unlawful possession and illegal use of a motor vehicle, theft of petrol, engaging in a police pursuit and aggravated serious criminal trespass.
