A South Australian prison officer has been charged over allegations he allowed contraband into the jail in exchange for a bribe.

The 40-year-old Mount Gambier man was working at the Mount Gambier Prison when the alleged offence took place between June 31 and July 10 2018.

The man was charged with one count of accepting a bribe following an investigation by the state's Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, Bruce Lander.

He has been summonsed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in October, Mr Lander said in a statement released on Monday.

Mr Lander said a separate investigation has resulted in charges also being laid against a 24-year-old Adelaide woman.

The woman was working in an administrative role at Renewal SA when she allegedly distributed information about an ICAC investigation in September last year.

She has been charged with four counts of breaching confidentiality provisions in the ICAC Act and will also face court in October.
