Charges laid over SA double murder

A Millicent man has been charged with two counts of murder after the discovery of two bodies at a house in the town in South Australia's southeast.

The 53-year-old was charged on Monday night after walking into the Berri police station, about 450 kilometres away, to report the deaths that morning.

Police found the bodies of two women, aged 63 and 84, at the Millicent property.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Berri Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The incident was not considered a random attack as the man and women were known to each other, police said.

Officers from the major crime branch and forensic investigators went to the scene on Monday to assist local police.
