Thieves break man's nose before taking stolen Porsche on joyride

An Adelaide father has been struck in the face with a rifle by home invaders who then stole his Porsche SUV and crashed it in the city’s west after a 2km joyride.

Two men used a crowbar to smash their way into the Bayly St home in Hendon at 1am, before pointing a rifle at the family and breaking one of the occupant’s noses, police say.

The thieves stole cash, mobile phones, iPads and a 2003 Porsche Cayenne which they crashed into a gutter in Woodville Gardens, ripping the wheel off in the process.

Neighbour Patrick Lynch said he was “shocked” to hear something happen in his quiet street. “I had no idea that had happened. They’re quite nice as well, so it’s a bit of a shame that happened to them,” he said.

The robbers, described as being in their 30s, are described as having solid builds and were wearing balaclavas at the time.

Witnesses saw one of the men running off after the crash near Humphries Terrance and Eighth Avenue onto Seventh Avenue.

He was described as being Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, and tall with long black hair.

He was also wearing a black leather jacket.
