Theft easier with tap-and-go bank cards

THIEVES ZERO IN ON TAP-AND-GO CARDS:

CASE ONE:

* A woman's bag was stolen from a city food hall along with her driver's licence, Medicare card and a tap-and-go debit card

* The woman contacted her bank six days later to learn the debit card had been used to buy $2175 worth of goods in 51 separate transactions

CASE TWO:

* A man's wallet was pickpocketed at a suburban shopping centre.

* In the 10 minutes it took him to cancel the card it was used to make $347 in purchases, including sunglasses, a watch and clothing.
