A robber has almost lost a finger after allegedly stealing swords during a home invasion in Adelaide.

Two men, aged 43 and 32, and a 36-year-old woman, stole two decorative swords after breaking into a Hackney unit in Adelaide's inner-east on Thursday afternoon, police say.

A struggle ensued and one of the 43-year-old's fingers was almost severed.

The trio earlier broke into a neighbouring unit armed with a steam iron and assaulted a man.

The 32-year-old man and 36-year-old woman were refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.

The 43-year-old was hospitalised and is expected to be charged later.
