Truck driver charged over 'heartbreaking' crash that killed beloved grandfather
A truck driver has been charged over a "heartbreaking" head-on crash in South Australia that killed a much-loved grandfather.
Darren Pollard, 59, was driving home from a shopping trip near Cambrai in the Mid Murray region when a truck, believed to have been travelling north, collided with his Toyota and a second car.
The truck driver and the driver of the other car were airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

"It's heartbreaking for a family, you know we see the road toll and that's a number, but what's behind that, of course, is real people," Premier Peter Malinauskas said.
Pollard's family released handwritten statements, remembering him as "a gentle… loving man who only wanted the best for us".
His wife expressed her grief, telling 9News, "I'm angry...I'm really angry he's been taken from me".
"My life is never going to be the same without you, Darren," she said.
"I'm heartbroken."
The truck driver has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing harm by dangerous driving.
Australian Portable Camps, the company employing the truck driver, has announced it will conduct an internal investigation into the incident.
