Adelaide woman charged with criminal neglect 10 months after newborn's death

A 33-year-old Christie Downs woman has been charged with criminal neglect 10 months after a newborn's death.

The 21-day-old baby was unresponsive and taken to the Noarlunga Hospital in Adelaide's south by his parents on April 23, 2021.

Despite efforts to revive the three-week-old boy, he was pronounced dead and a criminal investigation was launched by South Australia Police.

On June 18 last year, a 31-year-old Christie Downs man was arrested by Major Crime investigators and charged with manslaughter and criminal neglect.

The woman was arrested today, police said.

She was granted police bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on March 31.

Both the man and woman were known to the young victim, police said.
