Sex worker murder accused faces SA trial

A man accused of murdering a Sydney sex worker slit her throat with a razor blade and bludgeoned her, a South Australian jury has heard.

Chungaung Piao, 28, is on trial in the SA Supreme Court for the murder of 25-year-old Tina Fang.

Her body was found in a room at Adelaide's Grand Chancellor Hotel on New Year's Day 2015.

Opening the crown case on Monday, prosector Tim Preston told the jury Piao was Ms Pang's final client and CCTV footage showed him leaving the hotel on the night of her death.

A single-edged razor blade allegedly used to murder Ms Pang was found in the basin of the room's ensuite bathroom, Mr Preston said.

Ms Pang received at least nine blows to the head and had lacerations on her forehead consistent with having been hit with a stiletto shoe.

The jury heard Piao, who owned a cleaning business, had been experiencing financial difficulties and had been threatened over a $3000 debt.
