Seven people have been charged over allegedly submitting fake applications for loans from banks and other credit providers worth $2.9 million.

The applications involved $596,000 for housing finance with the rest related to vehicles and personal loans, police say.

The four men and three women have been jointly charged with collaborating to submit fraudulent finance applications and have been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on October 18.
