Sentence next week for Salt Creek attacks

Former chef Roman Heinze will be sentenced next week for his violent attacks on two backpackers at Salt Creek last year and for indecently assaulting another backpacker in 2014.

Prosecutors have asked that the sentences for the attack on a Brazillian woman and on a German woman on the sand dunes at the remote South Australian beach be cumulative.

Justice Trish Kelly will hand down penalties for the 61-year-old in the Supreme Court on Wednesday after lifting suppression orders concealing the identity of the sexual predator.

In his attacks in February 2016, Heinze tied up a Brazilian woman with rope and sexually assaulted her before hitting a German woman in the head with a hammer several times and repeatedly ramming her with his 4WD.

A jury in March found him guilty of six charges, including indecent assault, aggravated kidnapping and endangering life.

In a victim impact statement, the German woman told the court on Thursday that she feared she would die during the attack and had since relived the horror "hundreds of times".

But in a defiant message to Heinze, she said his violence had only made her stronger.

"I want you to know, Roman, that you could not defeat me. You could not break me. You could not win, even when you tried so hard," she said.

"You could not make me into a victim because I'm a survivor."

The Brazillian woman said she still had to deal with the physical scars of the attack and felt fear every time she went to the beach.

"Every day I see where the rope he used cut into my ankles and wrists. My legs are full of scars," she said.

Heinze admitted to indecently assaulting another backpacker at a property in Adelaide's south in 2014 after also agreeing to give the young woman a lift interstate.
