The body of an 86-year-old man who's been missing for a week has been found in WA's Goldfields region.

Ronald Potter was last seen on November 6 and his bogged car was found on Monday about 15km from Coolgardie near Londonderry, an old mining town about 550km east of Perth.

Police began the search on Sunday.

On Tuesday afternoon, they said a body believed to be that of Mr Potter had been found in the search area.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner," police said.

Earlier, Inspector Tony Colfer said Mr Potter had left some water bottles around his car and laid tape from the vehicle leading to the east towards a mining plot where he has a shack, but he wasn't in that area.

He described Mr Potter as a very well-known local and an experienced bushman.
