An Adelaide woman who left her two dogs in a hot car for five hours has been given a suspended jail sentence after being found guilty of animal cruelty charges.

The RSPCA says the woman left the two Maltese dogs in her car when she went to visit her daughter in hospital in March last year.

The temperature only reached 29C that day but one of the dogs died from heat stroke.
