Elderly SA woman to stand trial for murder

A 75-year-old woman accused of murdering her husband with knives and an axe has been ordered to stand trial.

Lucia Colella pleaded not guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday to murdering Antonio Colella at their Alberton home on July 6.

She will be arraigned in the Supreme Court on March 10.

The magistrate continued her home detention bail, which was granted on November 7 after she was released from hospital.

Her lawyer previously told the court Colella had never been in trouble with the police and had suffered from undiagnosed psychosis and psychotic episodes before her husband's death.
