An Adelaide man who allegedly glassed a member of the hip-hop band Hilltop Hoods will stand trial next June.

Christopher Peregi, 43, appeared in the South Australian District Court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to one count of assault and one aggravated count of intentionally causing harm to band member Daniel Smith.

Smith was taken to hospital with non-life threatening head injuries after an incident south of Adelaide in May last year.

Defence counsel on Friday said Peregi would elect for a trial by jury, which is expected to run for five days in June, 2020.

Hilltop Hoods were founded in the Adelaide Hills in 1994 and released their first EP in 1997.

The group is made up of Smith, who goes by the name MC Pressure, Suffa and DJ Debris.

They are currently on a world tour and scheduled to play in Adelaide in August.
