SA to forge closer ties with Brittany

South Australia and the Brittany region of France have signed an agreement to forge closer relations, with the two naval hubs looking to expand into other industries, the SA government says.

Premier Jay Weatherill says Brittany is France's leading naval defence region but also had strong agricultural and fisheries industries, therefore it made sense for SA to look at other ways the regions could collaborate besides naval projects.

"There are opportunities here to partner on tackling climate change and collaborate in education, research and partner on cultural and sports projects," Mr Weatherill said.
