SA police officer attacked during arrest

An Adelaide police officer has suffered cuts and abrasions to his head after a man he was trying to arrest turned on him.

The officer had gone to a home at Highbury on Wednesday to arrest a man on a warrant.

He was punched several times but was able to hold onto the offender until other patrols arrived.

A man in his 30s was arrested and is being interviewed, while the officer was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
