SA officials deny accepting $1m in bribes

Two South Australian public servants have been ordered to stand trial after they denied accepting almost $1 million in bribes more than a decade ago.

Barry John Buckskin, 45, and Paul Alexander Klopf, 56, faced Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, each pleading not guilty to multiple counts of receiving a bribe as a Commonwealth official.

It is alleged the offences took place between December 2002 and August 2006 in South Australia.

Buckskin stands accused of accepting bribes in the form of Peter Shearer clothing and shoes as well as more than $435,000 in cash.

Prosecutors allege co-accused Klopf received a similar amount in cash, in addition to a car and a tractor.

Magistrate Elizabeth Sheppard continued the pair's bail to appear in the District Court in November.
