SA man in court over mall's balls graffiti

An Adelaide man charged over a graffiti attack on the large sculptured balls in the city's Rundle Mall has made a first court appearance.

Bradley Ryan Leveille faced Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with four counts of marking graffiti.

No details of the case were presented and Leveille was ordered to return to court on January 29 after getting legal advice.

In October this year, the "mall's balls" were sprayed with graffiti style tags in red paint.

A number of buildings in the mall were also targeted.

The balls are a well-known feature of Adelaide's CBD retail precinct.

The spheres were crafted by Bert Flugelman and have occupied a prominent place in Rundle Mall since 1977 as Adelaide's best-known example of public art.
