SA man arrested over speed camera crash

A man has been charged over a crash which destroyed one speed camera and damaged a second in the Adelaide Hills.

Early on Monday a Commodore careered through guard rails and smashed into two speed cameras on the South Eastern Freeway at Mt Barker.

The force of the crash also caused serious damage to the car, throwing its engine clear of the body, but the driver fled the scene, apparently unhurt.

On Tuesday a 40-year-old Salisbury North man was arrested at his home address and charged with driving without due care and other road offences.

He was granted police bail to appear in the Mt Barker Magistrates Court on June 1.
