SA lawyers join call for no executions

South Australia lawyers have joined calls for Indonesia to halt the executions of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

The state's law society says the pair should be allowed to appear before the Constitutional Court on May 12.

It says to execute them before all legal avenues are exhausted would be contrary to the rule of law.

"We are dismayed at reports Mr Chan and Mr Sukumaran's executions are imminent. They should be allowed to give evidence before the Constitutional Court," Law Society President Rocco Perrotta said on Tuesday.

"We also repeat our complete opposition to the death penalty under all circumstances. It has no place in society."
