SA irrigators to have limits on water use

South Australian irrigators will start the new financial year with 36 per cent of their usual water allocations after recent rainfall failed to provide for an increase.

But River Murray Minister Ian Hunter says farmers and water users along the Murray will be able to carry over unused allocations from the current year.

"Water resource availability will be closely monitored as the year progresses and increases to water allocations will be made on the basis of actual improvements in resource availability," Mr Hunter said on Thursday.
