An Adelaide foundry and engineering business continues to fall short of emissions standards despite cuts in production and a reduced workforce, the Environmental Protection Authority says.

The Bradken foundry, which has been slated for closure in June, has been put on notice over "unacceptable odour emissions".

"The company is now on notice and must meet EPA's odour emission requirements for it to continue to operate at the Kilburn site," the authority said in a statement.
