SA family makes lucky escape from fire

A family of five has had a lucky escape after a carport fire spread to their Adelaide unit.

Two adults and three children awoke to smoke and flames in their Burnside unit early on Friday morning, a fire crew says.

The blaze had spread from a car fire in the adjoining garage, believed to have been sparked by an electrical fault.

An adult was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
