Two people have been charged after police allegedly uncovered a haul of drugs and nearly a million dollars in cash in an Adelaide hotel room.

Police say the investigation began with a pursuit on April 16 during which they located an abandoned white Mercedes at Grange and found a handgun inside the vehicle.

Investigators linked the car to a suspect staying at a CBD hotel and during a search of the room on Friday, they allegedly uncovered cocaine, 700ml of fantasy, methamphetamine, steroids, prescription drugs and more than $995,000 in cash.

A 35-year-old Torrensville man and a 31-year-old Mitchell Park woman were charged with a number of offences, including drug trafficking and possession, and money laundering.

The duo appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where they were refused bail and remanded in custody.
