SA considers $50m venture capital fund

South Australia should establish a $50 million venture capital fund to back start-ups, a new report says.

The report, prepared by Redfire Consulting Group for the state government, also calls for a merger of the commercialisation arms of local universities.

Premier Jay Weatherill says the government is yet to decide whether to back the recommendations but recognises the need to spur investment in new sectors.
