Reveal SA sackings costs: opposition

Premier Jay Weatherill has been called on to reveal the costs of the decision to sack 11 senior executives from his department.

With some executives on annual salaries of more than $200,000, individual payouts including termination payments could be more than $400,000, said opposition treasury spokesperson Rob Lucas.

He said one of them had only recently started a five-year contract.

On Thursday, the new chief executive of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Kym Winter-Dewhirst, emailed staff saying he had made reforms to the management structure.

He said the shake-up would lead to better services and revealed his new nine-person management team.

On Friday, Mr Lucas said long serving public servants were furious that while they were being sacked, former Labor ministerial staffers have been dropped into executive positions.

Bitter personality clashes and serious financial problems were plaguing government departments, he said.
