Record low August morning chills Adelaide

Adelaide has shivered through its coldest August morning in 126 years and coldest morning in any month since July 2008.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Jenny Horvat said the temperature in Adelaide fell to 0.9C just after 6am on Monday, making it the coldest August morning since 1888.

It fell to minus 5.6C in both Renmark, about 250km northeast of Adelaide, and Yunta, near the Flinders Ranges.

Adelaide recorded a maximum temperature of 14.6C just after 1pm on Monday.
