Pyne says executions will hit Australia

The executions of Bali Nine pair Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan will hit the Australian psyche, Education Minister Christopher Pyne says.

"I think people will be very surprised and shocked that the Indonesians have ended the lives of two men who had rehabilitated," he told ABC radio on Wednesday.

"It's a great sadness for our country that this has happened."

Mr Pyne said Australia's decision to withdraw its ambassador shows Australia is sending a serious signal to the Indonesian government.

"It is an official act of saying to the Indonesian government that we are extremely unhappy with the actions they have taken," he said.
