Public urged to help solve SA cold cases

In an effort to solve more than 100 cold cases dating back to the 1960s, SA Police are running South Australia's Most Wanted in the coming weeks.

Part of the ongoing campaign, Operation Persist, SA Police are urging the public to take note of the news segment, which will run in either the Sunday Mail newspaper or on Network Nine in conjunction with Crime Stopppers.

Police say they've identified up to 250 people previously convicted in South Australia for either murder or manslaughter dating back to the 1960s who are not recorded on the DNA database.

Police hope that by obtaining DNA and/or fingerprints as permitted by legislation it can then be cross-checked with evidence taken from other crime scenes nationally.

SA Police say there is more than $33 million in total in rewards for information in connection to those cases.
