Drug-charged cop fears bikie revenge

An Adelaide policewoman facing drug and corruption charges has failed in a bid to keep her identity a secret, despite her fears of threats from bikies.

Hayley May Greenwood, 25, was a front line police officer based at Christies Beach for five years before she was suspended over corruption charges, the Adelaide Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday.

She is charged with trafficking a controlled drug, abuse of public office to secure benefit and aggravated theft.

Greenwood applied for her identity to be suppressed because she feared it could indirectly identify police informants and obstruct justice in cases she had been involved in.

She also feared for her own safety, saying she lived three doors down from associates of Rock Machine Motorcycle Club bikies she had helped arrest.

"The stress and fear she feels is genuine," defence counsel Joseph Henderson said.

"She now lives by herself. She has arranged for her brother to spend every night with her."

But police prosecutor David Westover said Greenwood was not a "linchpin" in any cases before the court and there was no proof her neighbours were linked to outlaw bikies.

"What is sought to be portrayed is a person with a number of informants providing a lot of information," he told the court.

"That is not the case.

"A lot of the fears - there is no substance to them."

Magistrate Mary-Louise Hribal agreed, lifting an interim suppression order passed last Friday.

Greenwood was arrested in August after an investigation by anti-corruption detectives and South Australia's Independent Commissioner Against Corruption.

She will return to Adelaide Magistrates Court on November 24.
