Police officers have stormed an Adelaide home in search of a man accused of aiming a laser at a police helicopter.

It was the second time in eight days a police helicopter was targeted by a laser, risking the lives of the crew flying inside.

Officers swarmed a home on Port Road in Beverley shortly before 10pm yesterday after crews flying above the western suburbs noticed a beam being shone from below.

It's understood the suspect barricaded himself inside, forcing police to break open the front door to arrest him.

Police escorted a 42-year-old man from the home. The laser was allegedly found in the home.

He was charged with putting the safety of the aircraft at risk, which carries a maximum 14 years in jail. He has been given bail to face court in November.
