NT man on child sex charges

A 78-year-old man has been charged with child sex offences in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory dating back to the 1970s.

The man will face three counts of indecent dealings with a child and two counts of unlawful carnal knowledge.

Police said the charges related to offences in the 1970s and 1980s and followed a report in February 2016 from a 33-year-old woman.

The man was arrested in Melbourne and extradited to Darwin on Wednesday and is expected to face court at a later date.
