New "highly relevant" material is set to be disclosed in the case of a man charged over the death of a toddler in a hit-run crash, a court has been told.

The case against Michael Craig Bullock came before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday with a prosecutor indicating the new material should be supplied to the defence in two to four weeks.

Bullock has been charged with dangerous driving causing the death of two-year-old Zayne Colson in February.

The boy was killed after he was hit by a car at suburban Dover Gardens.

Bullock has been remanded on home detention bail and was excused from attending court on Tuesday.

His case will return on June 29 when he will be required to answer the cause death charge and also a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
