MP calls for representative SA parliament

Not having a truly inclusive and representative parliament is a real risk if minority parties are not elected in South Australia, Dignity Party MP Kelly Vincent says.

Ms Vincent said the 350,000 South Australians with a disability risk not having a proper voice within parliament if she is not returned in Saturday's poll.

"Ultimately I believe, South Australians want, need and deserve a parliament that represents them and the diversity we have in our community," she told reporters on Friday.

The Dignity party leader said recent changes to the electoral act meant she faced a tough battle to retain her upper house seat.

The field for minority parties was also crowded this election with Nick Xenophon's SA-BEST running candidates as well as the Greens and Cory Bernardi's Australian Conservatives.

"The Dignity party risks losing our representation in parliament at this election," Ms Vincent said.
