A man will face court accused of assault, making threats and breaching an intervention order after a seven-hour stand-off with police in Adelaide.

Officers were called to an Elizabeth East house at about 12.20pm on Thursday after an allegation of domestic violence.

A woman, in her 40s, was treated by ambulance officers before being taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 38-year-old man refused to come out of the house, but after negotiations he was taken into custody at about 7.30pm.

The man, of no fixed address, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated threats to cause harm and breach of an intervention order.

He will appear in the Elizabeth magistrates court on Friday.
