Man charged over NT assault on police

A man has been charged with assaulting police after officers were called to a disturbance at a remote community near Alice Springs.

It's alleged the 21-year-old punched one officer in the head in an altercation which also resulted in injury to a second officer's knee.

He's been charged with two counts of assaulting a member of the police force and will appear in the Mutitjulu Local Court on September 28.
