Man being assessed over SA crime spree

A South Australia man arrested by police following a wild crime spree in which several people were threatened with a sledgehammer, is being assessed by mental health professionals.

The 30-year-old from Bordertown allegedly stole two cars, repeatedly rammed another driver and drove through the glass doors of a vehicle dealership early on Wednesday morning.

Police say he also stole food from a service station, broke into a home armed with a sledgehammer and threatened four people inside before leaving.

The man was arrested at his own home soon after and charged with a range of offences, and has been sent to undergo mental health assessment.
