Man arrested over SA hospital stabbing

A man has been arrested over the stabbing of an Adelaide hospital worker.

The woman was on a break at Lyell McEwin Hospital at Elizabeth Vale about 6.30pm on Monday when she was approached near Haydown Road by a stranger who asked for a cigarette then stabbed her in the neck.

She was treated at the Lyell McEwin Hospital before being transferred to Royal Adelaide Hospital for surgery to a non life-threatening wound under her chin.

Police arrested a 28-year-old homeless man on Tuesday and are expected to appear in Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with aggravated intentionally causing harm and aggravated endanger life.
