A man who allegedly placed gas bottles on the bonnet of his car and threatened to blow up a building in Adelaide's CBD has been charged over the incident.

Police received reports on Monday morning that a man had parked on the footpath in Victoria Square, yelled profanities and threatened to blow up a building before driving away.

The 38-year-old was later arrested and charged with making unlawful threats.
