A military exercise dubbed Predator's Run is to bring 2500 army personnel together in South Australia for a range of training scenarios.

The exercise will combine elements from infantry, armour, artillery, combat engineers, service support and signals at the Cultana Field Training Area in South Australia's mid-north from Monday.

Locals have been warned to expect a build-up of military traffic in the area with the operation to run until September 28 and to include live-fire training.

Brigadier Matt Pearse says Predator's Run will help the army's 1st Brigade prepare for operational deployment and contingency tasks in 2019.

"Cultana Field Training Area is an outstanding facility for the Australian Defence Force due to its all-weather availability, manoeuvre space and the variety of challenging terrains within the one location," he said.

The exercise is also expected to inject $800,000 into the local economy over the four-week period.
